Backhouse and Walker is the first modern commentary on the outstanding socila work of the English Quakers,James Backhouse and George Wshington Walker.The pair travelled to all major centres and many isolated setlements between 1832 and 1838, everywhere pursuing their objectives of investigating and reporting to authorities on the penal system and on the treatment of Aborigines.
