Square 4to. 192pp, 61 full-page colour plates (one a folding panorama) and full illustrated catalogue of the artist's 217 known works (small b&w images). Blue cloth, gilt device on the upper board, with dustwrapper.

Max Angus (author) states:

"Simpkinson de Wesselow must be known to anyone with even a passing interest in colonial art. It was not until 1965 that it occurred to me to try and remedy this lack of appreciation of his work with the reproductions of a worth while volume containing Simpkinsons landscapes."

The text is in two parts: the first biographical in essence; the second an evaluation of his work in the colony.
